The position holder is responsible to safeguard and uplift the corporate reputation of the company through strategic internal and external communications.External communications encompasses communication of company achievements and activities through media such as news releases, press conferences and media interviews. It also includes communication to public shareholders and investors through the company’s annual report, AGM, corporate website. In the area of internal communications, the position holder is the editor of the internal newsletter and responsible for the content direction and quality. Corporate communications is the communications hub for all company wide internal communications where all communications has to be approved by the incumbent.
In addition, the incumbent also provides communication support to the External Affairs team. This includes crafting of key messages to effectively articulate points, preparation of letters and presentations to the Government, and the organisation of events that help communicate key messages to stakeholders.
Responsibilities :
- Develop, plan and organise strategic media activities to communicate key messages in order to enhance the company’s reputation as a solid company, delivering returns to shareholders
- Strategic media interviews to showcase success stories in order to build the company’s reputation as an employer of choice and a responsible corporate citizen
- Review all internal communications prior to release for publishing
- Work closely with External Affairs team and determine key messages in their communication activities to ensure that the Government is clear on GAB’s stand and recommendations on key issues
- Direct, plan and implement strategic media activities to highlight key issues
- Manage agencies to ensure that all projects and activities are completed within agreed timeline and objectives
- Network with key people from the media and contemporaries within the corporate world
Requirements :
- Degree in any field, preferably in Mass Communications or Business Administration
- Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in a related field
- Highly committed and values-driven
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess a high level of professionalism and confidence to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain confidential information and use tact and diplomacy
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to reach solid decisions and conclusions
- Maintain poise under pressure and demonstrate flexibility with shifting priorities
- Ability to work independently and practice sound judgement
- Ability to work with/present to all levels of management and across cultures
